GRS Global Recycled Standard is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important international non-profit organizations dedicated to responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. The standard recognizes the importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of reducing the use of resources (virgin raw materials, water, and energy) and improving the quality of recycled products.

GRS requires the issuance of a third-party verified environmental declaration that ensures the recycled material content of products, both intermediate and finished, the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process, restrictions on the use of chemicals, and compliance with environmental and social criteria at every stage of the supply chain, from material recycling to subsequent manufacturing phases, up to the labeling of the finished product.
